How do I invite people to a group?

Open the group, tap the gear for Group settings, then Invite people. While you create a group, Invite people is on that screen too. There are four ways to bring someone in:

• From Contacts: pick someone, and Messages or Mail opens with a link made for them. Their name from your contacts becomes their name in the group.
• Share the link: one link for a group chat or anyone else. Whoever joins with it can claim one of the names already in the group, or join as themselves.
• Show a code: the same link as a QR code, for someone beside you to point their phone's Camera at. It opens the group in Evensies, or a page with the balances where the app is not installed; from a name nobody has claimed, the code is that person's own.
• Add a name only: for someone who won't use the app. Expenses can include them like anyone else, and they can claim the name later with a link.

Evensies reads only the contact you pick, and keeps only their name. Their phone number or email address just fills in the message your phone sends, and never reaches us. Your other contacts are never read.

Beside a name nobody has claimed yet, Invite sends that person a link of their own. Invite again sends the same link while it still works, good for 7 days from then, and a new one once it has expired or been stopped. An invite link works for 7 days.

Someone without the app who opens the link sees the group's balances in their browser: names and amounts only, never descriptions, notes, comments or receipts. Stop sharing link in Group settings turns off every link to the group, and that page, at once. People already in the group stay.
