What does Evensies do with my data?
Last updated
Your groups are kept on your phone and on our server, so everyone in a group sees the same balances. Only the group's members can open its expenses, comments, notes, receipts and cover photo; someone with an invite link sees the group's balances in a browser, names and amounts only. There are no ads and no tracking, and we don't sell your data.
From version 1.0.1, the app sends anonymous usage data and crash reports, never your groups, names or amounts. Turn Share anonymous usage data off in Account and it stops at once.
Evensies asks for the camera only when you add a receipt, and for your photos only when you choose a receipt or a group's cover photo. It opens your contacts only when you invite someone From Contacts, and keeps just the name of the person you pick. It never asks for your location.
On an iPhone with Apple Intelligence on, running iOS 27 or later, a receipt you scan is read on the phone itself; it is sent to an outside service only if the phone cannot read it and receipt scanning is on. An iPad with Apple Intelligence on, running iPadOS 27 or later, does the same.
On other phones and iPads, when receipt scanning is on, a receipt you add is sent to an outside service to be read, and nothing else about you goes with it. When receipt scanning is off, receipts are only attached, and go nowhere else to be read.
If you add How you get paid, the people who share a group with you see it, so their Settle up can open your payment app; someone with only an invite link never does. Weekly email is off unless you turn it on, and an outside email service sends it.
Send me occasional news about Evensies is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off in Account at any time.
The privacy policy says exactly what is stored, where, why and for how long. The trust page says where it lives, how it is backed up, and what happens if Evensies ever stops.
