How do other currencies and exchange rates work?

Atualizado em

Every group has one currency its balances are kept in. Each expense can be in any currency: tap the currency beside the amount and pick one of the world's currencies in use, every one ISO 4217 lists, searching by code or name, with the ones you used last first. Evensies converts it into the group's currency and shows the rate on the expense. A payment is not converted: Settle up can record one in any currency the group uses, and the group then says what is still open in that currency.

The rate is the European Central Bank's reference rate for the expense's date. For a currency the bank doesn't publish, it is ExchangeRate-API's latest rate, and the expense says so. The rate is kept with the expense, so a later change in rates never rewrites it.

To use the rate your bank charged, tap Enter the rate yourself and type the rate, or the total you paid in the group's currency. The expense then says you entered it.

A rate Evensies has fetched for a past day is kept on your phone for good, and today's rate for 24 hours, so a currency it has converted before often works offline. Without a kept rate, Evensies asks you to type one rather than guess.

A group's currency can be changed in Group settings until money is recorded in it. Then it locks, because changing it would relabel everyone's debts; start a new group for a different currency. Default currency in Account is the one your new groups start in.
