How do I settle up and record a payment?

Last updated

Evensies never moves money. Pay the person however you like, then record the payment so the balances catch up.

  1. Open the group and tap Settle up.
  2. Evensies lists the payments that would settle the group, the ones that involve you first. Tap Record beside the one that happened.
  3. The amount is filled in. If only part was paid, change it. Set the Date, How it was paid, and a Note if you like.
  4. Tap Record, the checkmark at the top.

When you record a payment from a suggestion, Evensies checks that the payments between those two people are still the ones the suggestion was worked out from. If one was recorded or changed in the meantime, it says A payment changed meanwhile and records nothing, in case that payment was the same money. If it covers the amount, there is nothing more to do; if not, record it again from Settle up.

Record a payment on a group's balances screen opens the same list. A part payment leaves the rest owing, and the suggestions then show what is left.

For a payment that isn't on the list, tap Record another payment and choose From and To, and the Currency where the group uses more than one. When everyone is even, Evensies says Nothing to settle and offers Record a payment instead.

When you are the one paying and the other person has added how they get paid, the form offers to open their payment app; see Paying through an app. To settle everything with one person across all your groups at once, use their page.

To fix a payment, open it from the group and tap Edit to change the amount, the date, how it was paid or the note. Who paid whom stays as it is: to change that, tap Delete payment and record a new one. Anyone in the group can edit or delete a payment, and the balances update for everyone.
